Lyrics:
When there's nowhere else to run
Is there room for one more son
One more son
If you can hold on
If you can hold on, hold on
I wanna stand up, I wanna let go
You know, you know - no you don't, you don't
I wanna shine on in the hearts of men
I wanna mean it from the back of my broken hand
Another head aches, another heart breaks
I am so much older than I can take
And my affection, well it comes and goes
I need direction to perfection, no no no no
Help me out
Yeah, you know you got to help me out
Yeah, oh don't you put me on the back burner
You know you got to help me out
And when there's nowhere else to run
Is there room for one more son
These changes ain't changing me
The gold-hearted boy I used to be
Yeah, you know you got to help me out
Yeah, oh don't you put me on the back burner
You know you got to help me out
You're gonna bring yourself down
Yeah, you're gonna bring yourself down
Yeah, you're gonna bring yourself down
[x10]
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
Yeah, you know you got to help me out
Yeah, oh don't you put me on the back burner
You know you got to help me out
You're gonna bring yourself down
You're gonna bring yourself down
Yeah, oh don't you put me on the back burner
You're gonna bring yourself down
Yeah, you're gonna bring yourself down
Over and in, last call for sin
While everyone's lost, the battle is won
With all these things that I've done
All these things that I've done
If you can hold on
If you can hold on
Notes:
It's been a pretty long time since I've vidded, but I really do love it. The idea for this vid came when driving back from Chicago with
solflower22, I found the song on her mp3 player and consequently made her listen to it, like, ten times in two hours. The song choice is almost too obvious for Max, but it had the right intensity and momentum and it just had to be done, so I finally decided to go for it.
I started planning it the way I always do, which is by listening to it on repeat for about a week, then printing the lyrics and making a bunch of handwritten notes of what I'm seeing in my head. At first it was going to be completely Max-focused-- and it still is, for the most part-- but then it kind of became more about Jude and Lucy, too, and how Max connects them. He's the catalyst for everything that happens in the film. The moral of the story is: Without Max, everything goes to shit, the world sucks, the baby Jesus cries, etc etc.
There are also undertones of MAX AND JUDE ARESECRETLY TOTALLY IN LOVE. I can't fight canon!
Technically, it is probably the best of my vids, because I worked more with things like keyframes and was more aware of the internal motion and hitting the beats. (I use Adobe Premiere Pro.) I've never vidded a movie before, nevertheless a musical, and it's both easier and harder. Easier because it's so visual already, and harder because everyone is too busy bursting into song to get a good shot without the talky face. GOD, SHUT UP FOR TWO SECONDS, PLEASE!
Oh, and Joe Anderson runs like a girl.
